QMQ Block 5: New Hampshire

The Old Man on the Mountain

New Hampshire joined the United States, along eight other states in 1788, the country quickly growing as more and more states ratified the Constitution. Tucked up next to Maine, this small state has only 9,349 sq. mi. and it seems that most of it is still in its natural state.

I’ve visited New Hampshire a few times, most recently for the New England Quilt Expo, hosted by Bits N Pieces, a shop in Pelham. I’ve taught at both places, including my Elemental Coat pattern, Cuddle® blankets and robes. In fact, if you’re looking for Cuddle® fabrics, it’s the place to go.

.

Quilt Block

The New Hampshire block is a pictorial style of foundation paper piecing (FPP) and is a completely different look from the Delaware block which was also FPP. The tutorial will walk you through the whole process.

This quilt block takes inspiration from the White Mountains, popular with skiers from around the world.

I can’t wait to see what you make with the White Mountain block and if you’ve been to or live in New Hampshire, tell me about your favorite quilt shops or places to visit in Connecticut!

Happy sewing!
